NewsPhoto Special: From Regional Star to Tony Nominee! Celebrating the Stage Work of Rob McClureRob McClure, last seen in Honeymoon in Vegas, is currently starring in the Broadway revival Noises Off. Playbill.com takes a look at his stage career.
The Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of the award-winning Michael Frayn comedy Noises Off began previews Dec. 17 prior to an official opening Jan. 14, 2016, at the American Airlines Theatre.
Jeremy Herrin directs the limited engagement, which continues through March 6.
Two-time Tony winner Andrea Martin heads the cast as Dotty Otley with Megan Hilty as Brooke Ashton, Rob McClure as Tim Allgood, Campbell Scott as Lloyd Dallas, Jeremy Shamos as Frederick Fellowes, Tracee Chimo as Poppy Norton-Taylor, Kate Jennings Grant as Belinda Blair, Daniel Davis as Selsdon Mowbray and David Furr as Garry Lejeune. Noises Off, according to the Roundabout, is the "classic show-within-a-show. The opening night performance of the farce Nothing On is just hours away, and as the cast stumbles through their final dress rehearsal, things couldn't be going any worse. With lines being forgotten, love triangles unraveling and sardines flying everywhere, it’s complete pandemonium...and we haven’t even reached intermission! Can the cast pull their act together on the stage even if they can't behind the scenes?"
Noises Off premiered on Broadway in 1983 and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. The original production ran more than 550 performances. The 2001 revival featured Patti LuPone, Faith Prince, Peter Gallagher and Katie Finneran, who won her first Tony for her performance.
The creative team includes Derek McLane (sets), Michael Krass (costumes), Jane Cox (lighting), Christopher Cronin (sound), Todd Almond (original music), Paul Huntley (hair and wigs), Lorenzo Pisoni (comedy stunts) and Elizabeth Smith (dialects).
