Good Morning from East Haddam, Connecticut!! All of us here in Holiday Inn are so lucky to be spending our fall up in “the country”. This is taken from the front porch (without a filter!!) to show you just how pretty it is here. Our Saturday matinees start at 3pm which leaves us lots of time to relax or get things done!
Hayley Podschun
First up on this Saturday, a porch workout with Mr. Tally Sessions. We don’t joke around. He’s got his kettlebells and I’ve got pumpkins.
Hayley Podschun
After a lovely workout, I need to refuel so I hit up the ever popular 32 Main!
Hayley Podschun
Gotta check Playbill for the latest news along with the best breaky sammie and decaf pumpkin coffee.

Noah Racey showed up! Cheers to the beginning of our day!
Our sweet theatre along the Connecticut River. I feel like I’m living in a storybook out here! It’s amazing!!
Hayley Podschun
Five minutes before half hour we have “jump call” for our jumpers in the song “Shaking The Blues Away”. Charles MacEachern and Tally Sessions are our strong rope men while Amy Van Norstrand, Juliane Godfrey, and Darien Crago jump and tap dance for their life!

Ashley Simeone from the wardrobe department and Gina Ferrucci from the wig department are ready for the day!

Antonia, Blaine, Crystal, Eric, Spencer, Kelsy, Chee make up our stage crew! We’re only missing Heather Klein! :-(

Laura Kay and Priscilla Mullins from Wardrobe hanging out in John Riccucci’s office. They’re the sweetest!!
Hayley Podschun
Speaking of John Riccucci…There he is!! This fantastic man has been in charge of wardrobe at Goodspeed for 39 years and is beyond wonderful at his job. He is also hysterical which makes every day a joy to work with him.
Hayley Podschun
Tally and Noah suiting up for the matinee. Noah…are you putting a screwdriver in your nose?
Hayley Podschun
It’s stretch time!! Once I get dressed at 5 minutes, I head upstairs to chat with whoever is on deck and get warmed up for the show.
Hayley Podschun
Charles hanging out with Blaine Telow (props) and Chee Lee (carpenter).
Hayley Podschun
Little fun tradition: Once the overture starts, all of us in the opening number circle up, put one foot in and say “Steppin’ Out.” It’s then followed by a lot of nonsense such as…
Hayley Podschun
A MUPPET DANCE!!
Hayley Podschun
And Bryan Hunt shimmying.

FUN FACT: Caley Crawford plays “Bruce, The Radiator”. Here she is with her special “clanking tools.” There’s really no one who can do this job better. Congrats Caley! You’ve really made it!
Hayley Podschun
I have a lot of down time in this show so I fill it by reading (pictured above), coloring in a Lisa Frank coloring book, planning parties, think about starting to knit, and eating dinner.

The beautiful and funny Susie Mosher waiting to enter at the bottom of the skinny set of stairs that lead us up to stage right.
Hayley Podschun
Told ya these stairs are skinny!

It’s Thanksgiving time!! There are four steps to get the Turkey look just right. Abbey Church, Juliane Godfrey, Amy Van Norstrand (with help from Ashley) and Darien Crago demonstrate!!

We are super “thankful” to wear these gorgeous costume designs by Mr. Alejo Vietti.

Some of our ensemble crammed in as tight as possible singing “Happy Holidays” offstage before they burst in to Jim Hardy’s house.

Ashley is waiting to help people with quick changes backstage during “Shakin’ The Blues” and Chee is just hanging out.

Darrel T. Joe and Charles make a quick shoe change during “Shakin’ The Blues”

You can’t see much but here’s the jump rope moment!!! It went perfect tonight! But to be truthful…they do it flawlessly almost every night.
Hayley Podschun
Intermission time!!! Darien, Abbey and Laura Harrison enjoy their perfect fall apples they picked while visiting an orchard on a day off.
Hayley Podschun
Peeking in on the guys. Clearly, they’re all checking Playbill on their phones.
Hayley Podschun
CAUGHT!!

Intermission Reading! I’ve never met anyone who reads more than Patti Murin. She’s my idol.

Our sweet little village where we live. It’s truly magical.

A between show rest is nice every now and then. Especially under our opening night gift blanket while watching "Downton Abbey"

Back for show number two! Here’s Goodspeed at night.
Hayley Podschun
And here’s inside the theatre. It’s a 398 seat house but you would never guess it holds that many people because it’s so intimate.

“Jump Call” number two!!
Hayley Podschun
Here are our INCREDIBLE swings, Sarah Fagan and Darrell T. Joe. They’re truly both so fabulous and…they’ve been on!!
Hayley Podschun
It’s Patti! She’s got her Diet Coke and Linda Mason eyebrows on which means she can definitely tackle this second show.

Miss Susie Mosher again. This time, she’s celebrating the New Year
Hayley Podschun
It’s New Year’s Eve at The Holiday Inn!

Hanging in the basement with Noah, Danny, and Sarah. We’re watching Darrell, our male swing, kill it on stage!
Hayley Podschun
Why look!! It’s our talented orchestra! You would never know that we only have 8 people in our pit because the music sounds so large.
Hayley Podschun
Brad Spachman, our PSM, wants to nap during intermish but not today! We have another act to do!!

This is a sweet opening card that I got from my 3rd Grade Pen Pals in Aplington, Iowa. HI EVERYONE IN MR. SAMMON'S CLASS!

We made it thru Saturday which means, drinks and cheese fries at The Gelston House. If you’ve ever worked out here, you’ll know what I’m talking about. We hope you “pack your load, down the road, and come to Holiday Inn” !!!
The ensemble includes Alissa Alter, Abby Church, Darien Crago, Caley Crawford, Jeremiah Ginn, Juliane Godfrey, Laura Harrison, Bryan Thomas Hunt, Charles MacEachern, Karl Skyler Urban, Amy Van Norstrand, John T. Wolfe, Sarah Fagan, Darrell T. Joe, and Spencer Stanley.
Here's how Goodspeed bills the musical: "Happy holidays! Check into the tuneful world-premiere musical about a Connecticut farmhouse transformed into a jubilant nightspot — but only on holidays. From Valentine's Day to the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving to Christmas, expect a cornucopia of hit songs by Irving Berlin in a dance-dizzy romance based on the classic film that first starred Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby. Raise a glass of cheer to 'Happy Holiday,' 'Easter Parade,' 'Be Careful, It's My Heart' and more of the world's greatest show tunes."
The design team includes Anna Louizos as scenic designer, Alejo Vietti as costume designer, Tony winner Jeff Croiter as lighting designer and Jay Hilton as sound designer.
Holiday Inn is produced in association with Universal Stage Productions and by arrangement with The Irving Berlin Music Company. It is produced for Goodspeed Musicals by Michael P. Price.
Tickets begin at $27; to purchase and for more information visit goodspeed.org.
