Charles Strouse and Alan Jay Lerner’s 1983 Broadway musical Dance a Little Closer, which opened and closed on the same night, returns to the stage for one-night-only April 16 at Green Room 42.

The 7 PM concert boasts original cast members Len Cariou, Liz Robertson, and Cheryl Howard.

Set in a luxury Alpine hotel on New Year’s Eve as the world is on the brink of nuclear Armageddon, the infamous musical struggled to find an audience, and left critics puzzled. Dance a Little Closer closed on opening night after playing 25 previews. The production is also remembered for its inclusion of an onstage ice-skating rink that served as the setting for a love song between two gay characters.
