Reunions of original Broadway casts are not unusual, but 2018 will kick off with a New York City event that puts a unique twist on the practice.

The children of the original cast of the 1981 Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along are planning a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below to celebrate the work of their parents. Titled Our Time: The Children of Merrily We Roll Along, the show will get two performances, 9:30 PM January 2 and 3, 2018.

The cast list will include Nick Foster (son of Liz Callaway “Nightclub Waitress”), Huck Walton (son of Ann Morrison “Mary Flynn”), Tyler Walton Zeller (daughter of Jim Walton “Franklin Shepard” and Janie Gleason, swing), Molly Model (daughter of Mana Allen “Girl Auditioning”), Jackie Asbury (daughter of Donna Marie Asbury “Terry”), Sarah Moritz (daughter of Marc Moritz “Alex”), Blaine and Kailey Sayre (son and daughter of Clark Sayre “Soundman”), and Finn Snyder (son of Terry Finn “Gussie”). Additional casting is expected to be announced soon.

Based on a 1934 play of the same title by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, the musical follows three friends backward in time from 1980 to 1955, to figure out how they lost their idealism and their dreams. The original cast, which featured only young actors, many still in their teens, included Jason Alexander, Liz Callaway, Jim Walton, Lonny Price, Giancarlo Esposito, Ann Morrison, Daisy Prince, and Jim Walton.

The January 3 performance will be followed by a solo concert by original Merrily cast member Morrison.

Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street, beneath Studio 54, in Manhattan. Tickets, which cost $30 to $65 (plus a $25 food/drink minimum), can be ordered here.
