Offerman shared his diet for getting up to fighting weight for the part, which included a "salad" of Wisconsin cheese curds, "turducken-fed pork" and his other top fatty foods for fall. Watch the segment here:

Performances for the play begin Nov. 11, and opening night has been set for Nov. 18. Julie Halston, Arnie Burton and Anita Gillette are featured in the supporting cast.

The demand for tickets prompted the company to add a week to the limited run. The show originally had been scheduled to run through Dec. 13, but tickets are now on sale through Dec. 20. Plans for a possible life beyond the Boston production have not been announced.

Offerman is no stranger to regional theatre, having acted and worked backstage extensively in Chicago theatres, including the Goodman and Steppenwolf, during the 1990s. He co-founded Defiant Theatre (1993-2004) in that city.

Offerman plays the lead in the play adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the 1980 novel by John Kennedy O’Toole about an oddball named Ignatius Jacques Reilly who lives at home with his mom and has adventures in and around New Orleans in his quest to land a job.
