Broadway favorite Nick Adams has joined the cast of Off-Broadway's upcoming Drag: The Musical, beginning performances September 30 at New World Stages. Opening night is October 21.

Adams will reprise his performance as Alexis Gillmore from the musical's two earlier Los Angeles runs. The cast also includes RuPaul's Drag Race stars Alaska Thunderfuck (known mononymously as Alaksa), Jujubee, and Jan Sport; along with Lagoona Bloo, J. Elaine Marcos, Nick Laughlin, and Joey McIntyre (through November 24).

“Nick has been a part of this show since the early days and has brought the character of Alexis to life," says Alaska in a statement. "He is a musical theatre machine with triple-threat talents and huge biceps. In the musical, my character is her character’s arch nemesis, so it is my job to act like I hate her. It’s a challenge—but that’s why it’s called acting!”

Alaska wrote the musical alongside collaborators Tomas Costanza and Ashley Gordon. The show follows two rival drag bars, each fighting for survival while dealing with financial troubles.

The show made its world premiere at the Bourbon Room in 2022, and played an encore run there earlier this year. Check out highlights from the 2022 premiere here, and listen to the cast recording here.

The production features scenic design by Jason Sherwood, costume design by Marco Marco, lighting design by Adam Honore, sound design by Drew Levy, and projection design by Aaron Rhyne. KGM Theatrical is general manager, and casting is by RBT Casting's Ryan Bernard Tymensky.

The producing team for the Off-Broadway bow includes Costanza, Scott Prisand, Matthew Weaver, Hillary Weaver, Janet Billig Rich, Concord Theatricals, Paolo & Jodie Coppola, Aron & Gabe Alves-Tomko, David Charpentier, Jacob Slane, Producer Entertainment Group, Rob Kolson, MJ Humenuik, and Sarina Neer.
