Kara Lindsay, the Broadway actress who originated the role of Katherine in Newsies, and later went on to play Glinda in the smash hit Wicked, will star in the title role of Mary Poppins July 26-31 for North Carolina Theatre.
Lindsay will be joined by Nicolas Dromard as chimney sweep Bert, a role he also played in the Broadway production.
The expanded stage adaptation includes original songs from the film — with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman — as well as new songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. Julian Fellowes wrote the book.
The cast also features Lisa Brescia as Winifred Banks, Gary Milner as George Banks, Kathy Fitzgerald as Ms. Brill/Bird Woman, Riley Campbell as Jane Banks, Micah Boan as Michael as well as Jane Blass, Ryan Breslin, Tim Caudle, Elise Dwenger, Kelly Liz Bolick, Leilani Carr, Christopher Brian Williams, Kinsland Howell, Bryan Thomas Hunt, Daniel Marhelko, Yolanda Rabun, Jose Rondon Jr., Peyton Royal, Sean Seymour, Lydia Tart, Matthew Tiberi, Collin Yates, Adele Baldina, Addie Ruth Fornes, Emma Rae Fornes and Skyla Woodard.
Mary Poppins is directed by Eric Woodall, with a team that also includes Brian L. Hunt and Eric Collins (sound design), Meredith Scott (costume design) and Charlie Morrison (lighting design). Edward G. Robinson will serve as music director. Choreography is by Ryan Kasprzak.
