Off-Broadway News New York Premiere of Woman and Scarecrow Opens at Irish Rep Marina Carr's drama depicts a woman who confronts her alter ego—and her life choices—in her final hours.

Irish Repertory Theatre celebrates the official opening of Marina Carr’s play Woman and Scarecrow May 20, starring Stephanie Roth Haberle and Pamela Gray. The play tells the story of a dying woman (Haberle) who, in her final hours, confronts her alter ego, Scarecrow (Gray).

Irish Rep's producing artistic director Ciarán O’Reilly (The Seafarer) directs the New York premiere of Woman and Scarecrow in the W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage. The run is scheduled through June 24.

Completing the cast are Aidan Redmond (The Cripple of Inishmaan) as Him and Dale Soules (The Traveling Lady) as Aunty Ah.

Woman and Scarecrow premiered at London's Royal Court Theatre 2006. Carr is the author of more than 20 published plays, and has won numerous awards, including The Irish Times’ playwright award, the E.M. Forster Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the 2017 Windham Campbell prize.

Woman and Scarecrow features set design by Charlie Corcoran (The Seafarer), costume design by Whitney Locher (The Emperor Jones), lighting design by Michael Gottlieb (Three Small Irish Masterpieces), and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery (Admissions).
