Tadeusz Słobodzianek's Our Class has extended its New York premiere run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music through February 11. The work officially opened January 18 and was initially set to run through February 4.

The award-winning play premiered at the National Theatre in 2009, and is now adapted by Norman Allen and directed by Igor Golyak for its bow at BAM's Fisher Fisherman space.

Inspired by real-life events surrounding a horrific massacre in 1941, the play follows 10 Polish classmates, five Jewish and five Catholic, who grew up as playmates, friends, and neighbors, but turn on one another with life and death consequences. Spanning eight decades of upheaval, Słobodzianek's play explores how ordinary people can end up involved in atrocities.

The cast includes Gus Birney, Andrey Burkovskiy, Elan Zafir (Hedda Gabler), José Espinosa (Take Me Out), Tess Goldwyn, Will Manning, Stephen Ochsner, Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof), Richard Topol, and Ilia Volok.

Our Class also features scenic design by Jan Pappelbaum, music by Oscar winner Anna Drubich, and projections design by Eric Dunlap. The MART Foundation’s Sofia Kapkova and Arlekin’s Sara Stackhouse serve as executive producers.
