2023 Tony-nominated & Juliet writer David West Read has penned the book for the work featuring the songs of the rock and roll singer-songwriter.

A new jukebox musical is aiming for Broadway, and Tony winner Lena Hall is attached to star in upcoming out-of-town tryouts in the U.K. and Canada. Featuring a book by 2023 Tony nominee David West Read (& JulietSchitt's Creek), In Dreams will feature the songs of rock and roll singer-songwriter Roy Orbison.

As reported by Deadline& Juliet's Luke Sheppard will reunite with Read to direct the production, which will play Leeds Playhouse in England July 3-August 5 followed by a run at Toronto's CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre in Canada. Oliver Tompsett, who starred as William Shakespeare in the West End production of & Juliet, has also been cast in the Leeds production.

In Dreams follows the former lead singer of a country rock band, played by Hall, who decides to throw a party at a critical moment in her life. At the party, which is held in a family-run Mexican restaurant, she invites old friends to reconnect while hiding ulterior motives.

Familiar for her Tony-winning performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and her performance as Nicola in the Broadway run of Kinky Boots, she recently graced the New York stage as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors' Off-Broadway revival.
