Tony-winning set designer of Moulin Rouge! Derek McLane and journalist Eila Mell sit down at Union Square's Barnes & Noble to discuss their new book Designing Broadway: How Derek McLane and Other Acclaimed Set Designers Create the Visual World of Theatre. The talk, moderated by Tony- and Emmy-nominated director-playwright Moisés Kaufman (Paradise Square, The Laramie Project), begins at 7 PM November 28.
Designing Broadway takes readers inside the design process, from coming up with ideas, to researching the setting, to problem-solving staging challenges. The book features discussions with Broadway auteurs such as Kaufman, Lynn Nottage, John Leguizamo, and more. It also features behind-the-scenes looks at Into the Woods, Hadestown, Hamilton, and more.
