The York Theatre Company presents an invitation-only developmental reading of the musical Merman April 1 featuring direction by Richard Sabellico and musical direction by Jon Delfin.

Megan Sikora leads the reading as the famed musical theatre star. She is joined by Jeremy Benton, Michael Berresse, Adam Heller, Janet Metz, Manu Narayan, Diane Findlay, and Robert Sella with stage directions read by Hans Friedrichs.

Inspired by Brian Kellow's book, the musical features a libretto by Sabellico and songs by Irving Berlin, De Sylva and Whiting, Elliot and Spina, George and Ira Gershwin, Henderson and Brown, Cole Porter, Jule Styne, and Stephen Sondheim.

Late musical comedy star Ethel Merman created leading roles in the original Broadway productions of Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, Anything Goes, Call Me Madam, Panama Hattie, and more.

Meg Meschino is the stage manager for the reading, which is part of The York Theatre Company’s Developmental Reading Series.
