News Mary Louise Wilson Documentary "She's the Best Thing in It" Screened in NYC Tonight DOC NYC, America's largest documentary film festival, presents a screening of "She's the Best Thing in It," about Tony-winning actress Mary Louise Wilson, Nov. 14 at 7 PM at the IFC Center in New York City.

"Despite her Tony-winning performance in Broadway's Grey Gardens, 79-year-old veteran character actor Mary Louise Wilson finds few new opportunities on the stage, so she decides to try teaching acting back in her native New Orleans," according to production notes for the documentary. "As Wilson finds her footing in this new role, she reflects on her long career, the sacrifices she's made and the challenges faced by older actresses in the industry."

Appearing in the film are Tyne Daly, Valerie Harper, Melissa Leo, Frances McDormand and Estelle Parsons, among others.

Wilson's numerous award-winning roles include Vera Joseph in 4000 Miles at Lincoln Center (Obie Award), Big Edie in Grey Gardens (Tony Award), Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret (Tony nomination), Queen Elizabeth in The Beard of Avon (Drama Desk nomination) and Diana Vreeland in Full Gallop (Drama Desk Award), co-authored with Mark Hampton. She was most recently on Broadway in the revival of On the Twentieth Century. Her writing has appeared in The New Yorker and The New York Times, and she teaches acting at Tulane University.
