Martin McDonagh's Hangmen will make its long-awaited Broadway premiere this spring. The Olivier-winning comedy will begin previews April 8 for a limited 10-week engagement at the Golden Theatre. Opening night is set for April 21.

Hangmen had played only 13 preview performances when Broadway went dark in March 2020 and quickly announced that it would officially close and not return to the Great White Way when theatres reopened. At the time of that announcement though, theatres were hoping for an April 2020 return.

The cast will welcome Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), in his Broadway debut; and Tony nominee David Threlfall (Nicholas Nickleby, Shameless), back on Broadway after a 25-year absence. Returning to the Broadway production are two-time Olivier winner and Tony nominee Tracie Bennett (End of the RainbowFollies), Owen Campbell, Jeremy Crutchley, Olivier Bursary Award winner Gaby French, Josh Goulding, John Hodgkinson, Richard Hollis, John Horton, and Ryan Pope, with Sebastian Beacon, Peter Bradbury, Katie Fabel, and Colin McPhillamy. Olivier-winning theatremaker Andy Nyman (Derren Brown: Secret) also joins the cast.

Matthew Dunster will return to direct the Royal Court Theatre/Atlantic Theater Company production, centering on Harry (Threlfall), a hangman who finds himself unemployed when hanging is abolished. Set in a small pub in Northern England in the 1960s, regulars gather to hear Harry's reaction to the news when a mysterious stranger from London, Mooney (Allen), enters their world.

Hangmen features set and costume design by Olivier winner Anna Fleischle, with lighting design by Joshua Carr and sound design by Olivier Award winner Ian Dickinson. Casting is by Amy Ball CDG and The Telsey Office/Adam Caldwell, CSA.

Robert Fox, Jean Doumanian, and Craig Balsam produce.
