
Broadway favorite Bryan Batt, who was seen in the revival of La Cage aux Folles, is part of the cast of the series, which is set in 1960 New York City. The cast also features Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery, Michael Gladis, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Christina Hendricks, Maggie Siff, January Jones and Rosemarie DeWitt. "Mad Men," according to the show's official website, "pulls you into an unexpected new world — the high-powered and glamorous golden age of advertising where everyone is selling something — and nothing is ever what you expect it to be."
The series premiere was penned by Weiner and directed by Alan Taylor.
Bryan Batt's additional theatre credits include Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast; Monty, the disco DJ, in Saturday Night Fever; the Cat in the Hat in Seussical the Musical; Sir Percy in Frank Wildhorn's The Scarlet Pimpernel; as well as principal roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Starlight Express and Cats. The actor-singer-dancer also played Joe Gillis opposite Betty Buckley's Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and has appeared Off-Broadway in Forbidden Broadway and Jeffrey. Batt has also been busy raising funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
