Before PBS airs its new adaptation of Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White beginning October 21, look back at the Andrew Lloyd Webber-David Zippel musical version.
Directed by Trevor Nunn, the show opened at the Marriott Marquis Theatre November 17, 2005, and ran for 109 performances. Charlotte Jones wrote the libretto for the adaptation of Collin's Gothic classic, about an art tutor and his two female students who spy a mysterious figure in white and find themselves the victims of a seemingly perfect crime.
The principal cast featured Michael Ball and Maria Friedman, as well as Angela Christian, Adam Brazier, Jill Paice, Ron Bohmer and Walter Charles.
The show was revived at London’s Charing Cross Theatre in 2017.
