The recording will be accompanied by a 56-page full-color booklet, which includes essay, synopsis, lyrics, over two dozen production photos, plus a special note from the family of lyricist-librettist Adolph Green.

Tommy Krasker, co-founder of PS Classics and album producer, previously told Playbill.com, "As with most of our two-disc sets, from Sunday in the Park With George to Passion to Violet, it was all about: how do we preserve this production most effectively on disc? The original cast recording, of course, made trims in the title number, ‘Veronique,’ ‘Repent,’ ‘She’s a Nut’ and ‘Babette,’ and left out the three versions of ‘I Have Written a Play,’ plus ‘Max Jacobs.’ Those obviously had to be included. But there was also new, and glorious, dance and incidental music that I loved, that gave the new production much of its sweep and fluidity and flow, and some underscored passages that were brilliant – and when I mapped out my desired recording edition, we were at two discs. I will say, the cast and orchestra were delighted we were recording so much; it was a particularly joyous day in the studio."

The album is available for pre-order at the PS Classics website. Krasker notes that the expansive recording is priced the same as a one-disc set: "We wanted to give our customers — many of whom have been ordering with us since our first disc, back in 2000 — a little gift, so we’re offering this two-disc set at our website for the same price as a single disc."

On the Twentieth Century reunites RTC with Krasker, following the recording of the Tony Award-nominated revival of Violet last season. Krasker also helmed the Grammy-nominated cast albums of Roundabout's productions of Nine, Assassins and Sondheim on Sondheim. This album marks the eighth collaboration between RTC and PS Classics and is made possible in part by Elizabeth Armstrong and Ted and Mary Jo Shen.

The comic-opera score by Cy Coleman, Betty Comden and Adolph Green is used to express the larger-than-life characters of flamboyant Broadway producer Oscar Jaffe and Lily, a movie star he hopes to con into signing with him for a new show.

Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman with dance arrangements and incidental music by David Krane and music direction by Kevin Stites.
