Lisa Sanaye Dring’s Kairos will make its West Coast premiere with Los Angeles-based theatre company East West Players. The work marks the first of three productions in the 2024 season of the company, which serves as the nation's largest producer of Asian American theatrical work. Kairos will run at the East West Players’ David Henry Hwang Theater April 4-April 28, 2024, with an official opening night slated for April 7.
The play follows two people falling in love during a tectonic shift in society when a new procedure called Prometheus emerges, offering immortality to a select few. Kairos explores what happens to commitment and care when the linear structure of time is changed.
The work was originally developed as part of the Geffen Writers' Room 2021-2022 and originally produced by Know Theatre of Cincinnati. Earlier this year, Dring's play Sumo also made its world premiere at San Diego's La Jolla Playhouse.
Casting and creative team information for Kairos will be revealed at a later date. Tickets will be available for purchase in February 2024. For more information, visit here.
