A reading of Jeff Cohen's autobiographical comedy Squeaky will be presented March 6 at 7 PM at Off-Broadway's Theater 555.

The cast will feature Tony nominees Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America), LaTanya Richardson Jackson (A Raisin in the Sun; The Piano Lesson director), Marc Kudisch (9 to 5 The Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), and Ben Shenkman (Proof), as well as Emmy nominee Harris Yulin (Frasier). Playwright Cohen also directs.

Squeaky, a sequel to Cohen’s 2005 play Men of Clay, is described as a poignant, personal journey about dementia and the playwright’s eccentric dad, Stan “Squeaky” Cohen, the man who was banned from every Old Country Buffet in greater Baltimore.

Cohen’s other plays include the Holocaust drama The Soap Myth, The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller, and an adaptation of The Seagull set in the Hamptons. His directing credits include the Lortel-winning production of Christopher Shinn’s Four and Tristine Skyler’s The Moonlight Room. Cohen was awarded a special 2002 Drama Desk Award for The Tribeca Playhouse Stage Door Canteen.

The reading is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Email [email protected].
