The Warner Bros. film remake of A Star Is Born will arrive in cinemas September 28, 2018, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Lady Gaga, the internationally-known pop singer who scored a Golden Globe Award for her work in American Horror Story: Hotel, will star in the title role of the long-aborning remake of the classic film. The motion picture, as previously reported, will feature original songs written and performed by the Grammy winner.

Bradley Cooper, who earned a 2015 Tony Award nomination in the Broadway revival of The Elephant Man, will co-star in the classic story of a showbiz couple whose careers are going in opposite directions. He will also make his debut as a film director with the project.

Cooper will collaborate with screenwriter Will Fetters. In the latest version, the female role, which was originally portrayed as a movie star on the rise, will be reconceived as a small-time nightclub singer, who eventually achieves international stardom.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Goodfellas' actor Ray Liotta, who made his Broadway debut in Match, is currently in talks to join the cast of the feature film. What role he would play has not been announced.

Producers will include co-star/director Cooper, Jon Peters, Bill Gerber, and Basil Iwanyk.

The original 1937 film was co-written by Dorothy Parker and Alan Campbell, and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. It was remade in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland, then remade again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.
