Some Broadway shows run for years, and some run just a few weeks. But there is a smaller group—often created by major talents—which close during tryouts or even during previews and never get to open at all.

These shows will get a second chance in the limelight at Broadway Bound: The Musicals That Never Came to Broadway, for two performances, 7 and 9:30 PM October 25, at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City.

Produced and directed by Robert W Schneider, the show will feature stage stars Loni Ackerman, Jill Paice, Klea Blackhurst, Amanda Green, Jim Walton, Todd Buonopane, Kara Lindsay, Carolyn Mignini, and Rita Gardner (the original Girl in The Fantasticks), performing songs from little-known shows including A Mother’s Kisses, Annie 2, The Great Ostrovsky, Gone With The Wind, Harmony, Lolita, My Love, Lone Star Love, Nerds, The Nutty Professor, Say Hello To Harvey, Pleasures and Palaces, The Prince of Grand Street, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and others, written by the likes of Cy Coleman, Charles Strouse, Frank Loesser, Marvin Hamlisch, Carolyn Leigh, Richard Maltby Jr, David Shire, Barry Manilow, Bob Merrill, and Harold Rome.

This will be the second edition of Broadway Bound: The Musicals That Never Came To Broadway; a similar show with different songs was performed at the cabaret this past spring.

Feinstein’s/54 Below programming director Jennifer Ashley Tepper will co-host the evening with Schneider, introducing renditions and anecdotes from some of the shows’ original cast members and creators.

The two performances will each feature different performers and different songs.

Performers scheduled to appear at the 7 PM show include Ackerman (Cats), Blackhurst (Everything the Traffic Will Allow), Buonopane (Cinderella), Gardner (The Wedding Singer), Lindsay (Wicked), Mignini (Tintypes), Paice (Curtains), and Kevin Zak (Clinton: The Musical).

Performers scheduled to appear at the 9:30 PM show include Green (Hands on a Hard Body), Buonopane, Walton (Merrily We Roll Along), Mary Callanan (Bandstand), Michael Hajjar, Nic Rouleau (The Book of Mormon), Will Blum (The Book Of Mormon), George Salazar (The Lighting Thief), Neva Small (Henry, Sweet, Henry), Rebecca Spigelman (Hairspray), and Kevin David Thomas.

More singers are expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Tickets, which cost $35 to $75 plus a $25 food/drink minimum, can be ordered by clicking here.
