Kinky Boots’ Assistant Dance Captain Shares His Ultimate Broadway Workout Playlist | Playbill

Stage to Page Kinky Boots’ Assistant Dance Captain Shares His Ultimate Broadway Workout Playlist Creating the perfect workout playlist is like programming a concert—every song counts. SoulCycle instructor and Kinky Boots Angel, Robert Pendilla, lends us his soundtrack for our weekend workout.

As a cast member of the hit Broadway show Kinky Boots, the perfect playlist is something I think a lot about. It might start off mellow to get you into the mood, crescendo in the middle then close with something introspective.

The best playlists are personal. I adapt them to how I feel, what's going on in the world or what's happening with the weather. Music can dictate your workout, so choose songs that put you in the right place for that moment.

I like to start with a warm-up song: something to set the tone and get me focused. Then I add beat-driving music with great lyrics for the bulk of the workout. It might be a pop anthem or a remix of a classic rock song, but it's usually something I can sing along to in my head. I like to bring it back with a cool-down song that will send me out of the gym with a great outlook on the day.

A few good songs can be the difference between a mediocre and a great workout. Let music be the soundtrack to your success.
