News Kate Fleetwood, Rupert Young and Jamie Parker to Star in London High Society Principal casting has been announced for a new production of Cole Porter and Arthur Kopit's High Society, based on the 1956 film musical of the same name and Philip Barry's play The Philadelphia Story that preceded it, that will begin performances at London's Old Vic April 30 prior to an official opening May 14.

Kate Fleetwood will star as socialite Tracy Lord, with Rupert Young as her ex-husband C.K. Dexter Haven and Jamie Parker as tabloid reporter Mike Connor. Also in the cast are Barbara Flynn as Margaret Lord and Annabel Scholey as Liz Imbrie.

It will be directed by Maria Friedman as the final production of The Old Vic's current season in the round.

Fleetwood was last seen on stage in the Almeida's production of Mr. Burns; other recent credits include King Lear and London Road (both at the National Theatre). She was Tony-nominated for Best Actress when she reprised her performance as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth on Broadway that she'd previously played at Chichester and in the West End, opposite Patrick Stewart. 

Young is known for his role as Sir Leon in TV's "Merlin," and he also appeared in the adaptation of Philippa Gregory's novel "The White Queen" as well as "Hotel Babylon" alongside Tamzin Outhwaite and Max Beesley. Stage work includes Tonight at 8.30, Noel Coward’s cycle of ten one-act plays (Nuffield Theatre and Tour), Afterlife and Never So Good (both National Theatre) and as Bobby in Stephen Sondheim’s Company (Southwark Playhouse).

Parker played Scripps in the original production of The History Boys at the National Theatre and on Broadway, as well as in the 2006 film. He is currently starring in Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory and was also seen last year as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls The creative team also includes designs by Tom Pye, choreography by Nathan M Wright, musical direction by Theo Jamieson, orchestrations and arrangements by Christopher Walker, lighting by Peter Mumford, sound by Simon Baker and casting by Maggie Lunn, with ensemble casting by Will Burton.
