Off-Broadway News Joy Woods Returns to Skid Row as Audrey May 2 in Off-Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors; Watch Her 'Suddenly Seymour'

The SIX: The Musical star originated the role of Chiffon in the current revival at the Westside Theatre.

Joy Woods (SIX: The Musical, The Notebook), who originated the role of Chiffon in the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, returns to Skid Row as Audrey beginning May 2 at the Westside Theatre. Watch Woods' take on "Suddenly Seymour" with co-star Matt Doyle above.

Woods, whose other credits include Dreamgirls and Ratatouille: A TikTok Musical, succeeds Maude Apatow (Euphoria, Hollywood), who made her New York stage debut in the hit revival and played her final performance April 30.

“We are thrilled to welcome Joy back to the Westside Theatre. She has been such an integral part of our company from the very beginning, and having her return to the show in this new and exciting way is bound to be a joyous gift for audiences near and far,” said producer Tom Kirdahy in a recent statement.

Woods joins a cast that features Tony winner Doyle (Company, The Book of Mormon) as Seymour, Drew Gehling (Almost Famous, Waitress) as Dr. Orin Scrivello D.D.S., Tony nominee Brad Oscar (Something Rotten!, The Producers) as Mushnik, Aaron Arnell Harrington (Rent 25th anniversary tour) as The Voice of Audrey II, Tiffany Renee Thompson as Crystal, Khadija Sankoh as Chiffon, and D’Kaylah Unique Whitley as Ronnette. 

Completing the company are Camryn Hampton, Weston Chandler Long, Chelsea Turbin, Teddy Yudain, Zakiya Baptiste, Jonothon Lyons, Noel MacNeal, Kevin Pariseau, Jeff Sears, Evan Alexander Smith, and Melissa Victor.

A new block of tickets to the musical was recently released through January 5, 2025.

The Off-Broadway revival resumed its run September 21, 2021, after temporarily closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, the revival opened in October 2019. The creative team for the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic designer Julian Crouch, lighting designer Bradley King, costume designer Tom Broecker, sound designer Jessica Paz, puppet designer Nicholas Mahon, original puppet designer Martin P. Robinson, hair and makeup designer Tommy Kurzman, music supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger Will Van Dyke, and casting director Jim Carnahan. Puppets are by Monkey Boys Productions.

General management is by Live Wire Theatrical/Chris Aniello, and production stage management is by Ryan Gohsman.
