Emmy nominee John Krasinski (The OfficeA Quiet Place) will return to the New York stage later this spring in Penelope Skinner's dark comedy Angry Alan, the inaugural production of Off-Broadway's Studio Seaview. The strictly limited engagement will run May 23-August 3, with an official opening June 11. Tony winner Sam Gold is set to direct.

The production will be the first in the venue, formerly Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theater. Production company Seaview announced its takeover of the space earlier this year.

Angry Alan, written by Skinner and co-created by Don Mackay, premiered at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The one-man play follows Roger, who is divorced, demoted, and drifting. When an online personality promises clarity, Roger dives in without looking back.

"When we created this play as a reading for the Aspen Fringe Festival, we never expected it to go on this thrilling journey," Skinner and Mackay said in a joint statement. "To one day find itself in the hands of the brilliant Sam Gold, the powerhouse talent of John Krasinski and the fantastic folk at Studio Seaview. We are so grateful and excited for the New York premiere of Angry Alan."

"I’ve been looking for years to lure John to the stage," added Gold. "What a dream it’s going to be with such a vital piece of writing from one of my favorite writers and collaborators. I can’t wait to get started!” Krasinski previously appeared on the stage in 2016, in the world premiere of Dry Powder (with Hank Azaria, Claire Danes, and Sanjit De Silva). Directed by Thomas Kail, the play ran at The Public Theater and the actor received the Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance.

“It is our honor to be launching Studio Seaview with Penelope Skinner's searing play Angry Alan," Seaview co-founder and CEO Greg Nobile said in a statement. "Penelope's words reverberate in the most urgent way at this very moment, and we are eager to bring them to life on stage with the great John Krasinski, under the direction of our beloved collaborator Sam Gold."

The production will feature scenic design by dots, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman, video design by Lucy MacKinnon, and properties by Addison Heeren, with Kate Wilson as vocal coach and dramaturgy by Sarah Lunnie. John C. Moore will serve as production stage manager, with production supervision by Hudson Theatrical Associates' Sean Gorski and Seaview's Jonathan Whitton as general manager. Casting is by Taylor Williams.
