Connecticut's Sharon Playhouse will present a benefit performance of Charles Busch's The Tale of the Allergist's Wife September 13 at 7 PM.
The staged reading of the Tony-nominated comedy will feature playwright Busch in the title role, joined by Tony winner Joanna Gleason (Into the Woods), Richard Kind (Only Murders in the Building), Tony nominee June Gable (Candide), and Rodd Cyrus (The Light in the Piazza).
The play finds Marjorie Taub, a middle-aged Upper West Side doctor’s
wife plunged into a midlife crisis of Medea-like
proportions, shaken out of her lethargy by the reappearance of a somewhat mysterious childhood friend.
Sharon Playhouse Artistic Director Carl Andress, who will direct the reading, said in a statement, "We're delighted to welcome this wonderful cast of incredibly talented actors for our staged reading of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife.
It's a sharp and witty comedy that brilliantly explores the
complexities of midlife crisis and identity, and we're thrilled to share
this special event with our audiences. This reading promises to be an
unforgettable evening, blending humor and heart in a way that only
Charles Busch can deliver."
Originally produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, Carole Shorenstein Hays, Daryl Roth, Stuart Thompson, and Douglas S.
