The Ravinia Festival returns to Chicago’s Highland Park this summer with a lineup that includes a handful of Broadway and opera favorites. The lineup kicks off May 31 with jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis, joined by Tony nominee Ann Hampton Callaway, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Philip Bailey, and the John Pizzarelli Trio.
Among those taking the stage later in the summer are Tony nominee Josh Groban, who brings his Bridges tour to the venue June 7; Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson, who will appear with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as part of the Ravinia Women’s Board Gala July 14; Tony nominee Renée Fleming in the Chicago premiere of André Previn and Tom Stoppard’s Penelope July 28; soprano Angel Blue, soon to star in the Metropolitan Opera’s Porgy and Bess, August 8; and two-time Tony winner Christine Ebersole and Michael Feinstein August 29.
Additional highlights include a trio of Leonard Bernstein-related offerings: a live screening of West Side Story with CSO July 12, Tony winner Paulo Szot singing Bernstein’s Mass July 20, and a concert presentation of Candide featuring Miles Mykkanen and Sharleen Joynt August 28.
