Jeff Hiller and Asad Mecci

Jeff Hiller (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, American Horror Story) will join hypnotist Asad Mecci for the combined hypnosis and improvisational comedy Hyprov at Off-Broadway's Daryl Roth Theatre beginning October 19.

Hiller will succeed Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) for the final performances of the production, which continues through October 30. Upon closing, the limited engagement will have played 10 previews and 60 regular performances.

Created by Mochrie and Mecci, Hyprov is co-created by Jeff Andrews and directed by Stan Zimmerman. Tony winner Bob Martin (The Prom, The Drowsy Chaperone) serves as creative consultant.

The evening begins with Mecci welcoming 20 volunteers on stage to be hypnotized. The four or five most receptive to hypnosis then join Mochrie/Hiller to improvise the rest of the show while under hypnosis.

The production also has scenic design by Jo Winiarski, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Walter Trarbach, music direction by John Hilsen, and original music by Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright.
