Beginning March 27, musical theatre takes a field trip away from its stomping ground in Times Square to the Upper West Side. Through April 2, Symphony Space hosts Project Broadway, a chance for the Great White Way’s leading talent in performance, composing, choreography, playwriting, and directing to present works-in-development, unconventional collaborations, inside looks, and one-of-a-kind performances.
The week launches with Kicking and Sreaming: An Evening of Broadway Song & Dance March 27. Choreographers Noah Racey (Curtains), Lorin Latarro (Waitress), Sara Brians (resident choreographer for Matilda, Billy Elliot), Danny Gardner (Broadway by the Year), Whitney G-Bowley (GIG), Nick Kepley (assistant choreographer, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella), and Maxx Reed (Cats, West Side Story) collaborated with musical theatre composers Debra Barsha, Jason Robert Brown, Eisa Davis, Sam Davis, Drew Fornarola, Shaina Taub, and Ben Wexler to create new pieces together—song and dance in concert, an equal exchange.
Creatives Racey and Brians take us inside the rehearsal room in this exclusive glimpse at the music and dance of Kicking and Screaming.
