Jason Forbach (A Wonderful World, Into the Woods, The Phantom of the Opera) is set to make his film directorial debut with a new queer thriller titled The Delicate Medium. The short will begin production in January 2025.
The cast will include Dan Amboyer (Younger, Uncoupled), Christopher Gurr (Parade, Cats), and Jessica Keenan Wynn (Heathers: The Musical, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again).
“[The Delicate Medium] is a thriller about a writer whose rise to fame turns into a nightmare when he hires a medium to help him stop hearing traumatic voices in his head, even if it silences spirits from his past,” Forbach said in a statement. “It’s an allegory for the price of fame at the expense of artistic integrity.”
As a screenwriter, Forbach has won awards and accolades from the LGBT Toronto Film Festival, DC Shorts International Film Festival, the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Award, and the Finish Line Screenwriting Competition. Forbach is currently playing Crooner in Broadway's upcoming Louis Armstrong biomusical A Wonderful World, which begins performances October 16.
The Delicate Medium will feature cinematography by Guillermo Cameo. The producing team includes filmmakers Lisa Marie Tedesco (The Paradise Road, SPIN, August in the City) of Cosmic Forge Films and Lea Marie Heller (Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, Staging Anna, The Paradise Road) of Swift Bird Productions.
