Craft Recordings has released a never-before-heard edition of "Something Good" from the film adaptation of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's The Sound of Music. The track features Christopher Plummer's original vocals as Captain von Trapp, which were dubbed over in the 1965 film (Bill Lee provided the singing). Get a first listen in the video above.
A Super Deluxe Edition of The Sound of Music soundtrack will be released December 1. The set, available digitally or as a 4-CD/1 Blu-ray Audio box set, is the first time the complete score of the film will be available in its entirety. The edition features over 40 previously unreleased tracks, instrumentals for all songs, interviews, and more.
Audio for the forthcoming edition was remixed and mastered by Mike Matessino. The box set comes inside a 64-page hardcover book, featuring rare production photos as well as notes by Matessino.
The Sound of Music is based on Maria von Trapp's memoir The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, about a young woman who becomes a governess to the seven children of widowed naval commander in Austria, just as the Nazi party is coming into power. The 1965 film adaptation was helmed by Robert Wise, with a screenplay by Ernest Lehman.
