Winners of the 2018 Outer Critics Circle Awards were announced May 7, with the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming out on top with six wins including Outstanding New Broadway Play.
The two-part play also earned awards for director John Tiffany, set designer Christine Jones, lighting designer Neil Austin, projection designers Finn Ross and Ash Woodward, and sound designer Gareth Fry.
The Lincoln Center Theater revival of My Fair Lady received five awards, including wins for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Director of a Musical for Bartlett Sher (shared with SpongeBob SquarePants' Tina Landau), and stars Lauren Ambrose and Norbert Leo Butz.SpongeBob SquarePants, which led the pack with 11 nominations, was named Outstanding New Broadway Musical, with title player Ethan Slater and the multi-artist composing team also earning wins.
The organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications, and other media will honor winners at a gala dinner May 24 at Sardi's Restaurant, with Jenn Colella, Jim Dale, Christine Ebersole, and Martha Plimpton presenting awards.
The Broadway production of The Band's Visit was not in the running this year as the Off-Broadway world premiere was considered eligible last season (and ultimately won two awards).
