The previously announced London revival of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's classic 1930 Broadway comedy about Hollywood, Once in a Lifetime, is to star comedian, actor, writer and director Harry Enfield in his legitimate acting debut. Its begins performances November 25, prior to an official opening December 6.
Directed by Richard Jones, the company will also feature Daniel Abelson, Claudie Blakley, Okorie Chukwu, Lucy Cohu, Lizzy Connolly, Buffy Davis, Otto Farrant, Amy Griffiths, Amanda Lawrence and John Marquez. Further casting is still to be announced.
Enfield, who will play studio boss Herman Glogauer, has appeared in the films Swallows and Amazons, Scottish Mussel, Acts of Godfrey, Churchill: The Hollywood Years and Tooth. His television credits include The Windsors, Upstart Crow, Ruddy Hell! It's Harry and Paul, for which he won a British Comedy Award and two BAFTA TV Awards, Bad Education, Psychobitches, Blandings, It's Kevin, The Hunt For Tony Blair and Skins. His writing credits for television include Saturday Night Live, Friday Night Live, Harry Enfield's Television Programme, Harry Enfield And Chums, for which he won a Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award, and Smashy and Nicey: End Of An Era.
The production will be designed by Hyemi Shin with costumes by Nicky Gillibrand, light by Jon Clark, sound by Sarah Angliss and casting by Julia Horan CDG.
Once in a Lifetime will be followed by a new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, beginning performances February 17, 2017, prior to an official opening February 23 for a run through April 1. It will be directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, who previously directed Measure for Measure at the Young Vic and whose other credits there include The Changeling, The Glass Menagerie, The Beauty Queen of Leenane and A Respectable Wedding. It will be designed by Johannes Schütz. Casting is still to be announced.
See Me Now, performed by a company of current and former sex workers, will be staged in the Maria studio, beginning performances February 11 prior to an official opening February 17, for a run through March 4. It will be directed by Mimi Poskitt and created by Poskitt, writer Molly Taylor and the company.
