Broadway News Grover's Corners Returns to Broadway as Our Town Begins Previews September 17

Kenny Leon is directing the starry revival of the Pulitzer-winning Thornton Wilder play.

A new revival of Thornton Wilder's Our Town begins at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway September 17. Opening night is set for October 10, with Kenny Leon at the helm. Performances are currently scheduled through January 19, 2025.

Leon has assembled a starry cast for the production, including Jim Parsons (Mother Play) as Stage Manager, Zoey Deutch (Not Okay) as Emily Webb, Katie Holmes (The Wanderers) as Mrs. Webb, Billy Eugene Jones (Purlie Victorious) as Dr. Gibbs, Ephraim Sykes (Ain't Too Proud) as George Gibbs, Richard Thomas (To Kill a Mockingbird) as Mr. Webb, Michelle Wilson (Sweat) as Mrs. Gibbs, Julie Halston (You Can't Take It with You) as Mrs. Soames, and Donald Webber Jr. (Purlie Victorious) as Simon Stimson.

The cast also includes Heather Ayers, Willa Bost, Bobby Daye, Safiya Kaijya Harris, Doron JéPaul, Shyla LefnerAnthony Michael LopezBryonha Marie, John McGintyKevyn Morrow, Hagan OliverasNoah Pyzik, Ephie Aardema SarnakSky SmithBill TimoneyRicardo Vázquez, and Greg Wood, along with understudies Matthew Elijah Webb and Nimene Sierra Wureh. Casting is by Jim Carnahan.

The production is offering a digital lottery via Rush.Telecharge.com, where theatregoers can enter to win the chance to buy up to two tickets at $49 each. Entries are accepted from midnight to 3 PM ET the day before each performance, with winners drawn at 10 AM and 3 PM ET on the performance day. An in-person rush program is also available at the Barrymore Theatre box office on a first-come, first-served basis. The general rush will sell tickets at $45 and $30 with a valid student ID, subject to availability.

Joining Leon on the creative team are scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Allen Lee Hughes, sound designer Justin Ellington, hair, wig, and makeup designer J. Jared Janas, and dialect coach Kate Wilson. Kamara A. Jacobs is production stage manager.

The 1938 play centers on life in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1931. The work has become one of the most beloved in the repertoire, and one of the most frequently produced. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama the year it premiered and has been revived on Broadway in 1944, 1969, 1989, and 2003.

Producing the revival are Jeffrey Richards, Samsational Entertainment, and Eric Falkenstein.
