To celebrate its 40th anniversary, TCM Big Screen Classics will re-release the 1978 blockbuster film Grease to more than 700 movie theatres nationwide in April.
Screenings will be offered April 8, 11, and 14. In addition to the film, which stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Didi Conn, and Jeff Conaway, attendees can expect pre- and post-film commentary by TCM Primetime host Ben Mankiewicz.
Directed by Randal Kleiser and based on Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's musical of the same name, Grease was nominated for five Golden Globes and an Oscar, and was the winner of the People's Choice Award for Best Musical.
The new musical is celebrating the box office opening at the Nederlander with an offer for fans to get $20 tickets, harkening back to Rent's first-of-its-kind ticket lottery.
The new trailer showcases the scale of the production design, as well as a first listen to the power ballad "Waiting on a Wish," one of the new original songs by Pasek and Paul.
