Chicago's Goodman Theatre has announced updates to its 2024-2025 season, including the season's final production in the company's Owen Theatre. 

The world premiere of Jordan Harrison's futuristic play The Antiquities, a co-production between Playwrights Horizons and Vineyard Theatre, will run May 3-June 1, 2025. Tony winner David Cromer will direct. The work takes place decades in the future in a museum dedicated to memorializing human life in the early 21st century. An Off-Broadway premiere was announced earlier this week.

“This season is filled with unprecedented, big-idea-filled works that can’t compare with anything else," Goodman Artistic Director Susan V. Booth said in a statement. "Which is maybe the quintessential reason to produce something? The Antiquities by Jordan Harrison may just be the very best example.”

The Goodman has also revealed some casting for Eboni Booth's Pulitzer Prize-winning Primary Trust, playing October 5–November 3. Namir Smallwood will star as Kenneth, a dedicated loner with a passion for drinking Mai Tais on weeknights. Malkia Stampley will direct the work.

As previously reported, the season will open with Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee's Inherit the Wind, with other offerings including the company's 47th annual production of A Christmas Carol, James Ijames' Pulitzer-winning Fat Ham, Harold Pinter's Betrayal (starring Helen Hunt), the world-premiere of Zora Howard's Bust, and a new staging of The Color Purple.
