Cost of Living, Martyna Majok’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, is set to make its U.K. premiere at the Hampstead Theatre beginning January 24 prior to an official opening on January 31. The production, directed by Edward Hall, is scheduled to run through March 2 in London.

Cost of Living tells the story of John, a wealthy, brilliant, and successful PhD student with cerebral palsy, who hires Jess, a recent graduate who has fallen on hard times, as his new caregiver. Across town, truck driver Eddie attempts to support and re-engage with his estranged wife, Ani, following a terrible accident that has left her quadriplegic. As four very different lives collide and entwine, roles are unapologetically flipped, reversed and exposed—who is actually caring for whom?

The production will star Katy Sullivan, who created the role of Ani in the Williamstown Theatre Festival and Manhattan Theatre Club productions, as well as Olivier winner Adrian Lester (Company, Primary Colors) in the role of Eddie, Emily Barber (Trouble in Mind, Billy Liar) in the role of Jess, and Jack Hunter (All You Need Is LSD, The Living Newspaper) in the role of John.
