International News Full Cast Announced for U.K. Premiere of Jeremy O. Harris' 'Daddy'

The work from the Tony-nominated Slave Play playwright premiered Off-Broadway in 2019.

The Almeida Theatre has announced the full cast for the U.K. premiere of Jeremy O. Harris“Daddy” A Melodrama.

Directed by Danya Taymor, the production production will open at the Almeida April 6 following previews that begin March 26 for a run through April 30.

Claes Bang (Dracula), Terique Jarrett (Motown), Jenny Rainsford (The Tempest), and T’Shan Williams (The Color Purple) will join Rebecca Bernice Amissah (Guys and Dolls), Keisha Atwell (Memphis), Ioanna Kimbook (Bitter Wheat), and John McCrea (Everybody's Talking About Jamie), who were originally cast in the planned 2020 production before its postponement at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The production will also have set design by Matt Saunders, co-costume design by Montana Levi Blanco and Peter Todd, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Lee Kinney, movement direction by Anjali Mehra, musical supervision by Tim Sutton, intimacy and fight direction by Yarit Dor, and casting by Amy Ball.

Harris’ previous work includes Slave Play (nominated for 12 Tonys), Black Exhibition, Xander Xyst, Dragon: 1, WATER SPORTS; or insignificant white boys, and A24’s acclaimed film Zola, directed by Janicza Bravo.
