An industry reading of Tim Pinckney (Halston)'s new play A Prehistoric Ritual will be held October 7 at 4 PM at Open Jar Studios. This new reading follows a presentation earlier this year.

Much of the cast from the earlier reading will be back, including Andréa Burns (The Notebook), Brandon Contreras, Colin Hanlon, and Robert Sella. New for this iteration is Francis Jue (Yellow Face).

Peter Flynn is directing.

The play centers on Rick, rehearsing a production of Cabaret while simultaneously trying to juggle his duties as best man for his best friend's upcoming wedding. After discovering a secret about the soon-to-be married couple, Rick blabs to the wrong person, ultimately testing several long-time friendships. Oh, and Rick is having recurring sex dreams about Cabaret's source material writer Christopher Isherwood. As one does.

Pinckney received a Writers Guild Award nomination for his work on the writing team of Netflix's Halston. His earlier plays include Still at Risk, Ever So Humble, Message to Michael, A Perfect Blendship, and First Refusal. He also penned concert adaptations of Funny Girl, Chess, Hair, and On the Twentieth Century for the Entertainment Community Fund.
