Elaine May and Miley Cyrus to Star in New Woody Allen Project | Playbill

US/Canada Elaine May and Miley Cyrus to Star in New Woody Allen Project Filmmaker and Broadway playwright Woody Allen will begin shooting a new TV series for Amazon in March, which will star comedienne and playwright Elaine May and pop star Miley Cyrus, according to a report on Deadline Hollywood.

Allen and May worked together on the 2011 Broadway show Relatively Speaking, a trio of one-act plays, one each by Allen, May and Ethan Coen.

The brief report on Deadline Hollywood said Allen has planned six half-hour episodes of the yet-untitled show, for which he wrote the scripts, and which he will direct.

All that was revealed about the subject matter is that it is set in 1960. May was once a half of the comedy team of Nichols and May with Mike Nichols, which performed on Broadway. She also worked with Allen on the film "Small Time Crooks." Allen's most recent Broadway project was the musical Bullets Over Broadway in 2014.

No timetable for the new TV show's premiere was reported.
