News Duke Lafoon Gets His Wings Starting Tonight in Goodspeed Wonderful Life Musical Duke Lafoon plays the role of George Bailey in A Wonderful Life, a stage musical adaptation of the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life," with book and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof), starting previews Sept. 18 at Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT.

Opening night is scheduled for Oct. 14, and the limited run is scheduled to run through Nov. 29.

This 1986 adaptation of the 1946 Frank Capra film has music by the late Joe Raposo. It tells the story of a desperate banker who is ready to end it all on Christmas Eve, but who changes his mind after he is shown by his guardian angel how his life has made the world a better place.

Lafoon, who recently appeared Off-Broadway as Bill Clinton in Clinton: The Musical, is returning to a role he has played regionally.

Kirsten Scott plays Mary Hatch. She has appeared on Broadway as Jenny Hill in Big Fish, Young Phyllis in Follies and Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray. Logan James Hall, who played Will Connelly in Off-Broadway’s The House of Connelly, plays Harry Bailey.

Also in the cast: Frank Vlastnik, Ed Dixon, Josh Franklin, Bethe B. Austin, Ryan G. Dunkin, Michael Medeiros, George McDaniel, Kevin C. Loomis, Ben Stone-Zelman, sisters Riley Briggs and Ella Briggs. The ensemble includes Alissa Alter, Maddy Apple, Drew Nellessen, Hollis Scarborough, Curtis Schroeger, Carol Schuberg, Laura E. Taylor, John T. Wolfe, Jessica Wu, Alex Dreschke and Kate Cherichello.

A Wonderful Life is directed by Michael Perlman, with choreography by Parker Esse, orchestrations by Dan DeLange, music direction by Michael O’Flaherty, scenic design by Brian Prather, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, lighting design by Scott Bolman, sound design by Jay Hilton and wig and hair design by Mark Adam Rampmeyer.
