Former boyband front man Drew Lachey and his wife Lea Lachey's musical label•less will get an Off-Broadway premiere next month, with a limited run at Theatre Row performing March 20-30. The couple has written and will co-direct the premiere, with choreography by Lea Lachey.

The musical is inspired by an empathy exercise both Lacheys led at a 2018 theatre class. The work features a diverse cast (to be announced) of 17-27 year-olds telling true stories combined with evocative choreography and contemporary music. The work had a one-night-only preview performance in 2023, also at Theatre Row. That performance was the culmination of a tour of one-night-only performances.

“Of all the things that have happened in my career, none have impacted my life as much as label•less,” says Drew Lachey in a statement. “Being able to tell these stories of love, triumph and resilience has changed me and my world, and I believe deeply that it will change the worlds of all those who come and see it.”

“Creating and building label•less has been empowering and life changing for me,” adds Lea Lachey. “Our amazing creative team and talented cast are some of the bravest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My hope is that audiences leave the theatre moved and open to embracing people for who they truly are.”

The production will feature projections by Brave Berlin.

Along with his boy band background, Lachey previously appeared on Broadway in the original productions of Rent and Spamalot.
