The Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF), the national charity wing of the Dramatists Guild of America, will now offer a virtual fellowship alongside their traditional in-person fellowship program. Open to playwrights, composers, lyricists, and librettists within the United States, the new offering will open up the program significantly, as all offered fellowships previously required the recipient to be located within the tri-state area.

Fellows will receive mentorship sessions, hands-on work with industry professionals, and advisement on the stages of development, promotion, and marketing for staged productions. Over the course of a year, they will be given a stipend, access to career resources, and a concluding virtual presentation of their work to the industry. There is no financial barrier to entry.

The Fellows program was founded in 2000 by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Janet Neipris, and Arthur Kopit, eventually joined by Susan Miller. The program has since supported more than 200 writers, including Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Antoinette Nwandu (Pass Over), Lauren Yee (Cambodian Rock Band), Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen), Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), and Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen).
