Cyclops: A Rock Opera is back Off-Broadway October 20, featuring a number of familiar faces.
The musical is inspired by Percy Bysshe Shelley’s translation of Euripides’ Cyclops. Featuring a score by Jason Landon Marcus and Benjamin Sherman, with lyrics by Marcus and a book by Chas LiBretto, the production is directed by Sherri Eden Barber.
Playing The Tank, the production stars Aneesa Folds as Dionysus, Eric William Morris as Odysseus, and Korie Lee Blossey as the Cyclops Polyphemus. They will be joined by Jessie Cannizzaro, Madeine Hamer, Tais Szilagi, Charley Layton, Patrick Harmon, Jim Bertini, and Danilo Randjic-Coleman.
The musical features The Satyrs, an epic rock band comprising shirtless goat men desperate only for a drink and a shag; a one-eyed, flesh-hungry monster with a dash of Freddie Mercury; and a weary soldier with a ukulele just trying to get home.
