Evan Alexander Smith (Merrily We Roll Along, Little Shop of Horrors) and David Josefsberg (Beetlejuice, Spamalot) joined the Broadway cast of Back to the Future: the Musical as George McFly and Strickland, respectively, in June at the Winter Garden Theatre.
The duo joined continuing cast members Tony winner and 2024 Tony nominee Roger Bart as Doc Brown, Casey Likes as Marty McFly, Liana Hunt as Lorraine Baines, Jelani Remy as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, and Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff Tannen.

Based on the 1985 Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film about teenager Marty McFly—who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by Dr. Emmett Brown—the musical has a book by Bob Gale, and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film, including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode.”
Tony winner John Rando directs. The production also features set and
costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting design by Tim Lutkin and Hugh
Vanstone, sound design by Gareth Owen, video design by Finn Ross,
choreography by Chris Bailey, musical supervision and arrangements by
Nick Finlow, illusions by Chris Fisher, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and
Bryan Crook, dance arrangements by David Chase, and casting by Tara
Rubin. Bespoke Theatricals serves as general manager.
Back to the Future: The Musical made its world premiere at the Manchester Opera House in March 2020. The West End production opened in London September 13, 2021, at the Adelphi Theatre (where it continues) and subsequently won the Best New Musical Olivier Award.
The Broadway production opened in August 2023, subsequently earning two 2024 Tony nominations.
