Off-Broadway News Charles L. Mee’s First Love to Play Cherry Lane Off-Broadway The play, about a couple who finds love in their twilight years, will begin performances in June.

Big Love and First Love playwright Charles L. Mee is set to return Off-Broadway with another love-themed play, this time about a couple their twilight years. The production will be directed by Kim Weild, who directed Mee’s acclaimed Soot and Spit.

First Love explores how a chance encounter can change your life regardless of age. A couple, Edith and Harold, find themselves unexpectedly reunited on a park bench after several decades.

Performances will begin performances June 7 ahead of a June 15 opening. The limited Off-Broadway engagement is scheduled through July 8.

Casting will be announced at a later date.

The show will feature set design by Edward Pierce (Wicked, Amazing Grace), lighting design by Paul Miller (Amazing Grace), costume design by Theresa Squire (High Fidelity) and sound design by Jill B.C. Du Boff (Hand to God).

Some of Mee’s plays include bobrauschenbergamerica, Hotel Cassiopeia,Orestes 2.0, Trojan Women A Love Story, Summertime, and Wintertime.
