Among the many sketches, Cameron Diaz poked fun at a high school theatre troope performing an experimental piece in which the young actors dress in all black and take themselves very seriously. In the play, the students intently move acting boxes onstage while spouting ideas about gender politics, censorship, and other topical themes. View the clip below:
Cameron Diaz also took time out to promote and parody her upcoming movie "Annie", a modern remake of the musical classic in which Diaz plays Miss Hannigan. The sketch begins with SNL actors singing the iconic song "It's the Hard-Knock Life", led by Vanessa Bayer who plays Annie... or at least one of them. Warbucks, played by Jay Pharoah, arrives and does not want Bayer but instead states in the scene, "I want the black Annie." Forty-something "Black Annie" arrives and is larger than life. "Annie" features Academy Award nominee Quvenzhane Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") as Annie, Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx as a variation of Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, and many more. The Columbia Pictures film is produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z and will hit theatres Dec. 19.
