Shucked, Broadway's corniest musical, has announced its first national tour, set to visit more than 30 cities across North America in its first year.
Beginning in fall 2024 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, the country-tinged musical will subsequently visit Atlanta, Austin, Buffalo, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Durham, East Lansing, Fort Lauderdale, Greenville, Houston, Los Angeles, Madison, Nashville, Orlando, San Antonio, Schenectady, St. Louis, Washington D.C., and its beloved Tampa, with more cities to be announced.
The Broadway production of Shucked received nine Tony nominations at the 2023 awards, with Alex Newell winning the award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for their performance as Lulu.
In addition to Newell, the current Broadway cast also stars Isabelle McCalla as Maizy, John Behlmann as Gordy, Kevin Cahoon as Peanut, Andrew Durand as Beau, Ashley D. Kelley as Storyteller 1, and Grey Henson as Storyteller 2. They are joined by an ensemble including Jimmy Brewer, Audrey Cardwell, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Quinn VanAntwerp, rounded out by swings Miki Abraham, Ken Wulf Clark, Traci Elaine Lee, and Alan Wiggins.
Casting for the touring production will be announced at a later date.
Shucked features music by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, a book by Robert Horn, choreography by Sarah O'Gleby, and music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jason Howland. Scenic design is by Scott Pask with costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by John Shivers, and wig design by Mia Neal. John Miller is the music coordinator, Billy Jay Stein and Hiro Iida of Strange Cranium designed the electronic music, and Juniper Street Productions handles production management.
Shucked continues on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre.
