Digital rush tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the day until 30 minutes before the performance. One person may buy up to two tickets at $55 each. Michael R. Jackson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical officially opened April 26 at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre. Jaquel Spivey leads the cast as Usher, a young, Black, gay theatre writer grappling with his toxic inner thoughts while trying to write a musical about a young, Black, gay theatre writer grappling with his toxic inner thoughts.
The cast also features Antwayn Hopper, James Jackson, Jr., L Morgan Lee, John-Michael Lyles, John-Andrew Morrison, and Jason Veasey, all reprising their performances from the Off-Broadway production.
Stephen Brackett (Be More Chill) directs the new musical with choreography by Raja Feather Kelly (Suffs), scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costumes by Montana Levi Blanco, lighting design by Jen Schreiver, sound design by Drew Levy, hair, wig, and makeup design by Cookie Jordan, music supervision by Rona Siddiqui, orchestrations by Charlie Rosen, vocal arrangements by Jackson, and casting by The Telsey Office's Destiny Lilly. Tomoko Akaboshi is the music coordinator, and Chelsea Pace is the intimacy director.
A Strange Loop, which was the most Tony-nominated production of the season (with 11 nominations), ended up earning two prizes: the aforementioned Best Musical Tony Award and Best Book of a Musical for its Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, lyricist, and librettist Jackson.
