September 10: Tony-winning writer and director Richard Nelson (The Apple Family Plays) returns to The Public Theater with the second play in his new three-play cycle, The Gabriels: Election Year in the Life of One Family. Part two, titled What Did You Expect?, reunites audiences with the Gabriel family, and reflects on a country that is now in the midst of the general election for President.
September 15: Performances begin on Broadway for the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of The Cherry Orchard. The Anton Chekhov classic has been adapted by Tony winner Stephen Karam and stars Diane Lane, Chuck Cooper, Joel Grey and Celia Keenan-Bolger, among others.
September 15: St. Ann’s Warehouse kicks off its new season with the world premiere of Taylor Mac’s A 24-Decade History of Popular Music. Mac’s epic work, told through 240 songs, charts American history from 1776 to present day.

September 9: The Berkshire Theatre Group’s acclaimed revival of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, George Abbott and Jerome Weidman’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Fiorello!, directed by Bob Moss, makes the move Off-Broadway—marking the group’s New York debut as well as the first full-scale revival of the musical in New York.
September 12: Comedian Lewis Black returns to Broadway Monday nights exclusively with his latest stand-up show Black to the Future. The show is playing the Marquis Theatre when its regular tenant, On Your Feet!, is dark.
September 14: Rebecca Naomi Jones and Kecia Lewis star in Atlantic Theater Company’s world-premiere production of Marie and Rosetta by acclaimed Grounded playwright George Brant. Lewis stars as famed gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe—an influence to the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and Jimi Hendrix.

BROADWAY’S FUN HOME BIDS FAREWELL TO FANS WITH SPECIAL VIDEO
September 10: Fun Home, the Tony Award-winning, lesbian coming-of-age musical ends its Broadway run ahead of a national tour launching in October. The musical has played 26 previews and 582 regular performances at the time of closing.

September 8-9: Following a sold-out run at the Carlyle Hotel last year, Tony Danza again brings his acclaimed solo show Standards & Stories to Feinstein’s/54 Below.
September 11: Paul Rudd, Amber Tamblyn, Norbert Leo Butz and Jennifer Mudge star in a premiere staged reading of Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty Happy . The one-night-only reading at the Lucille Lortel Theatre benefits MCC’s artistic and educational programs.
September 12: Joshua Henry and Cynthia Erivo star in Jason Robert Brown’s one-night-only concert staging of The Last Five Years. The concert, playing at Town Hall, sold out in approximately half an hour. September 15: United Solo Festival, the world’s largest solo theatre festival, kicks off at Theatre Row for another year of unique theatrical pieces. Performances run through November 20.
September 18: Don't miss the 68th Emmy Awards, recognizing excellence in the television industry, featuring a slew of Broadway talent among the contenders. Nominees include multiple Tony winners Audra McDonald and Viola Davis, All The Way Tony winner Bryan Cranston, Special Tony winner Lily Tomlin, stage and screen star Benedict Cumberbatch and Dry Powder actress Claire Danes.
